(Spring Branch, TX) – There are many team sports at Smithson Valley High School that students can be involved in, but there’s one team that makes it possible for all the athletes to perform at their best. Head Athletic Trainer, Thomas Petmecky has developed a unique opportunity for incoming Freshmen to get exposed to the program by attending any of the four “Shadow a Trainer” nights.
Middle School students will have the opportunity to see how High School Student Athletic Trainers help out during a high school game.
There are four events at home Ranger games to attend to kick off March’s National Athletic Training Month:
Friday, Feb. 16: Baseball/Softball/Soccer
Friday, March 2: Soccer/Baseball
Thursday, March 8: MS Track Meet
Friday, March 23: Soccer/Softball/Baseball
Wednesday, March 28: MS Track Meet
Parents will bring their Middle School students to SVHS Field House Training Room (by the scoreboard of Ranger Football Stadium) around 4:30 p.m. They will be assigned a student trainer to “shadow” and will follow/assist them during pre-game, game time, and post-game activities. Pick up time after the game will be approximately 9:00 (depending on the length of the game) at the Field House.
Blue jeans or school appropriate shorts and tennis shoes required. T-shirt will be provided for the game. Only Smithson Valley and Spring Branch logos allowed on jackets, caps, hoodies or other attire.
