2016 Ranger Volleyball earns a wealth of honors and achievements

(Spring Branch, TX) – Coach Liana Gombert’s farewell season as Smithson Valley Volleyball Head Coach can by all measures be considered a success. Despite an Area Round exit from the 2016 UIL Playoffs, this 2016 Ranger Team finished with an overall record of 34-11, a Bi-District Championship and will graduate all of it’s Seniors with Academic All-State Honors (Minimum 94 GPA during the season) with many of them continuing their careers at the next level. Bekah Brodbeck- Beach VB/Georgia State University, Macy Berg- Beach VB/Texas A&M Kingsville, Maja Kaiser- Beach VB/University of Southern California, Sofi Thomas- Volleyball/Benedictine College and Tenley Housler- Beach VB/Texas A&M Kingsville.

Individual honors include All-District selections to the following:

27-6A First Team – Maja Kaiser, Sofi Thomas and Macy Berg

27-6A Second Team – Lauren Kadilis and Maddie McKay

27-6A Honorable Mention – Tenley Housler, Adriana Martinez and Ashley Najvar

As well, Senior Maja Kaiser was named to the 5A/6A All Area Super Team by the San Antonio Express News and Texas Girls Coaches Association Senior Legacy All Star Team. Teammate Lauren Kadilis  was named to the Texas Girls Coaches Association Junior All Star Member Red Team.
